Privacy on the Hub
Last updated: October 2026
Reading Pescadores Galapagos Tech Hub requires no account, no sign-up and no form. That keeps the amount of personal information involved very small. This page lists the little that does exist, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who is responsible
The hub is run by the pen-name writing team described on the About page. Privacy questions and requests go to inbox@pescadoresdegalapagos.org, the same address used for everything else.
A static site without trackers
Each page is a pre-built file served exactly as written. The hub runs no analytics package, no advertising code, no visitor counters, no embedded social buttons and no third-party tracking scripts. Nothing on the site tries to recognise you from one visit to the next, and we hold no profile of your reading.
Server logs kept by the host
The files are delivered by a web hosting provider. Its servers may record standard request details for a short time: the IP address that asked for a page, the address of that page, a timestamp and the browser's self-description. Those records exist so pages can be delivered reliably and so faults and attacks can be spotted. They are held by the provider under its own retention schedule, we do not combine them with anything else, and we do not use them to work out who our readers are.
The legal ground is a legitimate interest in operating a site that stays online and secure.
The cookie banner and local storage
When you click a button on the banner at the bottom of the screen, your browser saves that choice in its local storage, on your device, so the banner stays out of the way afterwards. The value is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. Clearing site data for this address in your browser settings removes it. More detail is on How the Hub Uses Cookies.
When you write to us
An email brings us your address, any name you sign with and whatever you choose to include. We read it, reply if a reply is useful, and keep the thread only while it serves that purpose, for example until a correction is published. We do not add correspondents to mailing lists or pass messages to third parties. Please leave out passwords, policy numbers, health details and anything else sensitive; no article ever requires them.
The legal ground is your request and our legitimate interest in responding to it.
Your rights under the GDPR
Where the General Data Protection Regulation or a similar law applies to you, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether any of your personal data is held here and send you a copy of it;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- delete your correspondence;
- limit how your data is handled, or object to that handling;
- hand it to you in a portable format, where that applies.
Send any of these requests to the address above. We may ask a question to confirm the request comes from you, and we aim to answer within the period the law sets. You can also complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
Children
The hub is written for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this page
If the way the site handles data changes, for example if a new feature needed it, this page will be revised and the date at the top updated. The terms that govern using the site are on Hub Terms of Use.
